A Guide for Women on Dressing for Your Body Type
Every woman has a different body type, therefore dressing for it may make you feel good about yourself and at ease in your clothes. Here is some advice on how to dress for your body type:
• Hourglass: If you have an hourglass shape, your hips and bust are roughly equal in size, with a defined waist. Emphasize your curves with form-fitting clothes that cinch at the waist. Wrap dresses, high-waisted pants, and pencil skirts are all great options.
• Apple: If you carry weight around your midsection, you have an apple-shaped body. Draw attention away from your waist with flowy, empire-waist tops and dresses. Avoid clothes that are too tight or clingy around your stomach.
• Pear: A pear-shaped body has wider hips and a narrower upper body. Emphasize your upper body with boat-neck tops, off-the-shoulder styles, and bold patterns or colors. A-line skirts and wide-leg pants can balance out your lower half.
• Rectangle: If you have a straight, athletic build, you have a rectangular body type. Create curves with ruched tops, peplum tops, and belted dresses. You can also add volume to your hips and bust with layered tops or ruffled sleeves.
• Inverted Triangle: An inverted triangle shape has broader shoulders and a narrower lower body. Balance out your proportions with wide-leg pants, full skirts, and A-line dresses. V-neck tops and dresses can also elongate your neck and draw attention to your face.
Remember, these are just general guidelines, and the most important thing is to wear what makes you feel confident and comfortable.
